Song and Dances from The New Village
Antigoni Goni, guitar
Laura Gilbert, flute

A musical journey throughout the world
A concert that celebrates music inspired by the rich cultures of India, Argentina, Greece and Brazil.
From the meditative ragas of Ravi Shankar and the electric Tangos of Piazzola to the polyrhythmic compositions of Sergio Assad and the sensual melodies of Jose Luis Merlin, this program evokes the wide range of emotions intrinsically connected with traditional folk music
America. From the past to the present and beyond
From the past to the present and beyond Robert Beaser's "Appalachian songs" next to Ned Rorem's "Romeo and Juliet", Joan Tower's "Snow Dreams" and Jonathan Elliot's recently composed "Friss". From the melodious American folk music to the cutting edge of the new generation of American composers.

The duo:

It all started one night when we played Astor Piazzola's "Histoire du tango" in New York for a benefit concert.
One rehearsal, the performance and realized it was in the stars.
Playing with another musician has never been so natural, so enjoyable, so genuine.
We knew it, the presenters knew it and more than anything the audience felt it.
The duo was formed and, along with it, a wonderful friendship
