Through her 15 day tour in the US Antigoni Goni has had the pleasure
to perform in front of enthusiastic and appreciative audiences in New
York City, San Francisco and Oberlin, Ohio.
Her touring repertoire was consisted by the rarely played works of
Leo Brouwer (Hika) and Toru Takemitsu (In the woods), as well as world
premiers and new arrangements. A unique program that represents both Ms.
Goni’s latest work as well as her love for the Not-so-traditional
guitar repertoire.
The artistic highlights of the tour ware indeed the world premiers of
Dusan Bogdanovic’s Hymn to the Muse, Sergio Assad’s
arrangements of Ernesto Nazareth piano pieces and Tulio Peramo’s
arrangements of Manos Hadzidakis’ Gioconda’s Smile.

The Toru Takemitsu’s
project finally culminated with the concert at Miller Theatre last January
22.
As expected, performing the music of Toru Takemitsu has been both greatly
inspiring, and very demanding. Having both the audience and the critics
share my enthusiasm, made the experience even more gratifying.
Here is a couple of quotes taken from the reviews that New York Times
and WNTI offered.
“Eloquent player with a graceful touch and
a rich sound”
The New York Times
“Her use of dynamics and spatial silences
to convey the inherent qualities of Takemitsu's music was of the highest
order, not only in the opening piece but throughout the evening.”
….. “a flawless technique” and “deft dynamics
wedded to plaintively expressive and sensitive veracity.”

Three stops
in three cities I haven't visited since my GFA tour in 1996, three beautiful
places with wonderful audiences that I cannot wait to see again. The program
will be a mixed 20th century repertoire that combines my recent Toru Takemitsu
project and my upcoming solo recording.
I hope you can all be there and meet me afterwards backstage.
Many of you
have been asking: "Where will you be teaching in the summer????" Well,
the answer is: Eastern Europe! This year I will be participating in one
of Europe's oldest Guitar Festival, the famous festival in Esztergom,
Hungary.
It will be a pleasure to see you there.
